The Quiet Strength of Tabitha

The Quiet Strength of Tabitha

Acts 9:36-43

Tabitha was one of those people who was loved by all. She spent her time helping the poor and most vulnerable in Joppa by making them clothing. When she died Peter was called to see if anything could be done. When Peter entered the room where Tabitha was laid out her old friends, mostly widows, were there mourning. Peter asked them to leave. Then in the silence, he knelt down and prayed. He spoke directly to her body and said “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes and did just that. Tabitha was what most of the kingdom of God looks like: quiet, unassuming individuals articulating God’s love to those who need it most.
