Luke 1:24-25

Elizabeth was the mother of John the Baptist, of the priestly line of Aaron. She and her husband Zechariah were both considered righteous before God, but for some reason she found herself barren for the longest time. The angel Gabriel announces to Zechariah that he and his wife will have a child; and that the child "will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord." (Luke 1:14-15) Zechariah is incredulous, but Elizabeth conceives a child who would be the forerunner of the Messiah. Her joy was as contagious then as it is now.
